Capture and manage from Slack
Connect Clear Tangle to your Slack workspace to capture thoughts, view tasks, and get AI planning without leaving your conversations. Supports multiple workspaces and private channels.
Installation
- 1Go to Settings → Integrations in Clear Tangle
- 2Click "Connect Slack"
- 3Authorize Clear Tangle in your Slack workspace
- 4You're ready to go!
Multi-Workspace Support
You can connect multiple Slack workspaces to a single Clear Tangle account. Each workspace has separate OAuth credentials.

Multiple ways to capture content from Slack:
Direct Messages
DM the Clear Tangle bot with any message to capture it. Just type naturally—no commands needed.
@Mentions
Mention @Clear Tangle in any channel to capture that message or thread.
Emoji Reactions
React to any message with :brain: or :cleartangle: to capture it.
Image Capture
Attached images are automatically captured with OCR text extraction.
Task Management
View and manage tasks without leaving Slack:

Task lists include buttons to mark tasks complete or view them in the full app—no need to type additional commands.
AI Planning
Get AI-powered priority recommendations:
/plan - View your last AI-generated plan/plan new - Generate a fresh plan based on current tasks/plan refresh - Force regenerate (clears cache)
The AI considers task priorities, due dates, blockers, and your preferences when generating plans.
Source Tracking
Every Slack capture remembers its origin:
- Channel name or DM
- Original author
- Message timestamp
- Permalink to original message
- Workspace ID
Security
Our Slack integration follows security best practices:
- HMAC-SHA256 request signature verification
- Timing-safe comparison to prevent timing attacks
- 5-minute timestamp validation (prevents replay attacks)
- OAuth 2.0 with signed state parameter (15-min expiration)
- Row-level security for data isolation
